Google will automatically choose the so-called Place search, rather than a general web search, if it thinks your query is about a place — something Place Search product manager Jackie Bavaro says accounts for about 20 percent of Google searches. (Read More) For example, looking for a “museum” in “new york” - see what the results look like. (Thanks to Javier for the tip)

I hate to say this and I never thought I would feel this way, but seeing everyone around me getting engaged and married is making me upset and angry that I can’t do the same.

The Great Escape: Tulum, Mexico
Our visit to Tulum, Mexico - in pictures. Tulum is a wonderful place, quiet and low key. You can actually run out of things to do here but we made the most of everyday. From underground water caves (Cenotes) to bike rides along the coast and through the town (Pueblo) we explored, relaxed ate and drank. The people are wonderful and the sun and sky there are beautiful. Oh yeah and the beaches are...

lucius: lonelysandwich: Couch to 5K: an iPhone App from Lucius Kwok Lucius is one of the greats. A brilliant developer, a snappy dresser, a hell of a businessman, and a real sweet guy. Making this with him in Portland a few weeks ago was what making video is supposed to be: just a pure good time. Thanks also to Dan Wineman and the Mrgans for their assistance and love. We had a fun couple...

Making Sense of Complex Controls
“About six users represented 80 percent of the problems,” Mr. Roberts said. “They were early adopters of technology who put 15-inch screens on the console and huge disk drives in the trunk.” User centered design at its best! (Read Article)

Yesterday my bank called me to inform me that someone was trying to use my credit card number to make purchases online. This is the third time someone has a lifted one of my credit card numbers in the past three years. Upon getting home last night to move the car for street cleaning, it became apparent that someone (for the second time in three months) had thrown a huge rock through the passenger...

Did you know that it costs $2,000 in publication...
If you start an LLC you are required by law to declare your business and publish in something called the New York Law Journal. The costs of filing for an LLC are around $600. The costs of publishing in this Journal are almost three times that at $2,000. When you’re starting your business this is a lot of money and not to mention it’s just ridiculous. Help potential small businesses by...
